Onam celeberations

Onam Celebrations
Onakkodiyum Oonjallum













Onam is the state festival of Kerala, and each and everybody celebrates this festival in a grand way, be it the rich or the poor, irrespective of religion or caste.



Based on the traditional myths, the legendry King Mahabali, famous for his generous and kind nature once ruled Kerala, and it is said that during his rule not a single act of theft or other sorts of evil took place, and that all are equal.



Onam festival is celebrated on the assumption that the Great King Mahabali comes to greet his people on this day.



So in order to welcome their beloved King people celebrate Onam in a grand way.



Deseeya Balatharangam, therefore celebrates by providing food and clothing to the poor and needy children and the members of Deseeya Balatharangam joins these children to celebrate Onam with dance music and a lot more, named Onakkodiyum Oonjallum. ( meaning New clothes for Onam and enjoyment).



During this year’s Onam celebration it has been decide to provide clothes to 1000 children and food to 2000 people.
